Title pending until I think of something better.
Gah, I don't like this one so much. So many anatomical and clothing fold flaws. *_*
So this is My Koi girl type character, but it's not a furry and I'm not a furfag, I just love fish-inspired clothing. Lol. Name also pending. Probably a one shot character though.
First time In a while I used my markers, It looks like I shit highlighter all over it though. =C Obviously not all of it is marker, some of it it photoshooped in. Hair, skin, textures, etc, etc.
I have like 2788438387 different versions of this, and I couldn't decide which one to upload. One had a water texture over it, one was flipped, different background, etc, but I just settled to use my original plain one.
hey i just saw your comment on shizumi-ryu's journal.. so thought i'd try give a little constructive criticism to help spread the love - and try and save what little integrity is left in deviantart.
really like this piece - the colours are great, and the amount of detail is amazing. i especially love her clothes (and the patterns too).
my main criticism is that the jaw/neck line looks a bit odd - especially if you look at it upside down - and i'd have her left tear-duct a bit lower (her left, not ours..).
but yeah, fantastic work - keep it up!
(i'm not that great myself to be honest, but i hope what i mentioned is of some use)
p.s. love the hair too haha, reminds me a little of art nouveau style
Thank you very much! People like you make Deviantart worth going on. You have a wonderful gallery.
Nice to know you like the colors, I thought they seemed too highlightery.
I'll try to see what I can fix with her neck and jawline. I wasn't so sure how to connect it, since her body is like, sort of flowing upwards behind her? I don't even know. Lol.
Since that area is so cluttered it might be harder to fix, but I can definitely fix the eye. =O
i have the same problems with the neck/jaw line on a lot of the things i do - i really struggle with drawing people and it's really hard to get the anatomy perfect.. i work at a dressing table though, so whenever i'm stuck on a face part i kinda just look at the contours of my jaw and stuff in the mirror. It's quite a complex pose she has though, so it could be troublesome doing that..
did you do this picture from scratch or use any reference pics? I don't think i could have ever thought up a pose like that from memory.
oh i was thinking though.. are you using photoshop to edit it? i'd try and move her head back a bit if you can, it should flow into her neck at the back a bit smoother then, and also you could probably identify her jaw bone easier.
Yeah, I always have tendency of making my people look like linebackers when I draw shoulders, either that the arms are sloping down all weird like a hunchback. =O My room is a terrible art environment. Nothing is at all concentrated in one area for ease, but I have a mirror I often use for drawings legs from the side and such. =O
I created the pose from scratch, but next time I probably should find reference so the anatomy is better.
I could try doing that, but it might be difficult with all the layers. I mainly use photoshop for textures and to do skin tones because I don't really have a very efficient way of coloring skin with markers,
